Fantastic question, thanks for asking. If every adult in the age bracket of 19 to 65 meditates at the same time, or even if one in every two people meditate at the same time, the entire earth would heal and transform. All the problems including global warming, plastic pollution, air pollution, violence, disease, etc will begin healing and repairing itself.
Questions like this indicate that humanity as a whole is gradually leading towards such a healing. I can suggest what each person can do meanwhile.
We can train ourselves to be in a meditative state of mind all the time, 24 x 7. When we learn to do this and be in this state, we can at least be sure that whenever the rest of humanity reaches that point, we would not be the one person left out!
The practice of meditation is only helpful to the extent that it helps us move towards being able to retain the meditative state of mind throughout the day, bring this grounded, balanced mindset into our routine daily activities and allow it to heal our entire lives. Most people don’t even know that this is possible.
Most often, it is not a natural consequence of long term practice with meditation. I have myself been practicing sitting meditation for several minutes every day for over twenty years without being able to bring this state of mind into the rest of my day. I certainly enjoyed pockets of peace, joy and gratefulness during and immediately after each session but my overall life remained the same. I have found the same experience happening with most long term meditation practitioners.
Two persons seem to be living in the same body. One that meditates and enjoys bliss, peace of mind, compassion, gratefulness and joy. The other is the one who lives routine life, struggling with anger, irritation, depression, anxiety, disease and pain. The two never manage to merge and become one. Unless we receive proper guidance and handholding through a process of mentoring through a journey into Awareness, I don’t think this is possible.
