Awareness Journey

Is it possible to have an out of body experience without meditation?

Probably by consuming narcotic or psychedelic drugs? That seems to be the only way actually. Meditation is a process of returning back to the body, so basically one cannot aim for an out of body experience and sit to meditate with such expectations.

Almost everybody living in modern times are always living outside their body all the time. Where are we living then? In fantasy world, in the past, in the future, in the mind, totally engrossed and consumed by the ever running thinking process.

I can prove this right now. Are you aware of the breathing process happening in the body? As an arising phenomena happening in real time right now? Maybe after reading my question you do, but look back and see how many moments or how many times did you notice the breathing happening in the body as a lived in sensation, as a movement in the belly and chest, as a movement of air in the nostrils? We do know that breathing is happening all the time as a knowledge, but not as a witnessed reality in real-time, most of the time. We don’t even know that this is possible. Because we are all habituated to living in the mind and looking at our body from the mind.

I think I know what you are actually asking. It’s about astral travel probably. Great sages and Rishis have been said to have traveled to wherever they wanted to with their aware mind while their body stays at one spot.

I have guided innumerable students in my Awareness Journey course to experience such an out of body travel and it is possible only after one opens up all the aspects of their mind to deep awareness. It is an inward growth and uncovering rather than an outward learning process. Although it seems paradoxical, we need to be grounded and go deeply within to be able to experience out of body travel. This is the only safe way and not what I said in the first line above! Drugs will only take one through an illusionary experience by switching off the thinking process.
