What makes people to have fear? How many types of fear are there? Are any benefitial for us?
Fear is our personal bodyguard, our internal security service. We cannot survive without the ability to feel fear. It is an integral part of us and we cannot look at the whole of a human being (or for that matter any living being) without their ability to feel fear. Various feelings that we may experience from time to time fall under the overall emotion of fear. These include feeling afraid, alarmed, anxious, apprehensive, concerned, fidgety, frightened, hesitant, horrible, horrified, jittery, leery, nervous, panicky, paranoid, scared, shaky, shocked, startled, surprised, suspicious, terrified, uneasy, unglued, unnerved, worried, wretched. We wouldn’t have thought of feelings such as feeling concerned or surprised as arising from the emotion of fear in us. Fear turns unproductive when we start being fearful of our fear. In other words when we don’t accept our fear and respond to it with denial or anger, we end up with negative consequences. We don’t do this consciously but we grew up learning to deal with our fears in this way. The following article gives a detailed overview of the energy vibrations that cause the emotion of fear in us and how to allow it to help us grow into wholesome person. I conduct regular workshops both online and in-person to help understand and heal our emotions. It is called Stepping into our hearts: A gentle creative exploration into emotional awareness by connecting with the earth & its healing potential.
